Before we look at the minis, here is what you need to know about the company - "Twisted is a steampunk tabletop skirmish adventure game, with the finest range of 32mm steampunk miniatures on the market.
The immersive, narrative-driven world of Twisted revolves around opposing factions, as they attempt to discover the location of the mysterious entity known as The Engine. It’s up to you to determine which faction will protect – or enslave – this powerful steampunk-world-generating device!
The visual design of Twisted is founded on ramshackle mechanical Victorian steampunk blended with the organic, decorative style of Art Nouveau. The idea underpinning many of our figures is to take famous characters and ‘twist’ them into an alternate steampunk form to make them part of our universe. Hence the name – Twisted!
The team behind Twisted – Demented Games – is based in Australia. With many years of experience in the industry, and one of the most recognisable sculptors and painters in the world – Sebastian Archer – being an integral part of the team, we are well placed to deliver the highest quality both in miniatures and customer service."
So, now you know who is behind it and the setting, lets get a look at the minis. Both are resin for the time being, with only 500 casts of each (they come with signed and numbered certificate) before they are reproduced in metal forever more.
First, there is Nouveau, the leader of one of the factions - "Servants of the Engine". He is £14.50,
Next, we have Ollyver, who is 44mm tall and has a distinct Frank Hyde (by Infamy) vibe about him. He belongs to "The Dickensians" and costs £18.13.
If you think Ollyver's price is a weird number, it is - as an Australian company, all their prices are (obviously) going to be in AUS$ but I have listed the prices in Pounds Sterling. You'll also have to factor postage cost and wait into your decision if you want the models - though I didn't think $7.95 (roughly £4.15) was too bad a cost to get my Nouveau from one side of the world to the other.
Finally, if you like what you see of Twisted, Scott Hockley recently finished painting M'Dusa over on his blog which is full of awesome stuff and we fully recommend checking out!
