Brambleten's Hasslefree Binge

 Since the Wamp Workshop and enjoying painting Boudi, I've been thinking about making a Hasslefree order to pick up a few more minis to have a practice with. So, when the newsletter came around saying that there was going to be goody bags on offer, I binged.

Below are photos of every model in that binge. 

Thanks to getting my order in just before shipping was stopped to allow for holidays, I got a goody bag and extra sweets. More from the goodybag lower down, after I've been through the models I actually ordered :)

I've so far found it impossible to order from Hasslefree and not pick up a model in some state of undress, so if you are of a sensitive disposition, there are some nudie models a bit further down the post.

First up though is the resin master of Jynx. She bears a remarkable resemblance to a certain 'not mutant' from the recent Avengers film. As I've come to expect from Hasslefree's masters, no mold lines and only a tiny bit of flash to clean up.

Next is another resin master - Salome Kohn. This one is the Heretical Version, as the witch hunter is found to be without her hat. While I liked the version with the hat, her face is almost completely obscured by the brim so I went for the hatless version instead. Lovely sword as well, nice detail on the hilt.

While Jynx was first on the list of things to order, Wild West Boudi was a close second. I've really enjoyed painting Steampunk Boudi so fancied another go on something a little different. She's the same sculpt, but with long skirts at the back and the gun has been elongated into a rifle.

Not every Hasslefree lady is semi naked, and Maika von Ostwald could comfortably fit in to a Warhammer Empire army in some role. The sword is nice and different to usual flat bladed ones.

Next is Gwen, another lady with a sword. This time though, she does appear to have a super hero complex and has her undies outside her chainmail.

These ladies do like their cloaks! Following on from Gwen there are two mages - Lenore and Amalthea.

We now shift in tone from Fantasy to Modern, or in the cases of Kirsten and Jade - Skimpy.

Slightly more reasonably dressed - Vic Lewinski.

Lt Thoran

Akanke. The sculpt seems to lend itself to a darker skin tone for her, which is something I need to attempt as currently all of my human models tend to be white (except for Fat Cop from Knight Models).

Isabelle, a fairy sat on a rock.

Taxxis (b) - usually seen mounted on Death, this is one of several solo Taxxis minis. She can either be armed with sword or bladed staff thing and I'm pretty torn. It looks like a nice sword, but the bladed staff thing has more character. 

Layla and Misha, who in other sculpts have clothes. Here though, they don't.

The last of my intentional acquisitions was a trio of Succubi. Because, you know, naughty demons.  

The first of the packs in my goody bag was a set of 4 small quivers. They're about the right size to fit onto a hip or shoulder for Green Arrow to act as his dart holders, but they're also far too bulky for that to look good I think.

The only gent in the entire box - Pvt Chapman. He'll likely get a very similar paint job to Thoran.

A harem dancer. I was trying to get a decent picture of her face, but it turns out that other than her chin and a partial on her mouth, it's all obscured by her hair.

Now that I've gone through all the good stuff, here's my one little gripe with Hasslefree. Here are two photos - spot the difference.

I don't mind paying postage to get items to me. It's a damn site cheaper and easier than travelling to shows to pick up minis! But sometimes it just looks like the company are out to make money on the P&P. If the parcel had been a small parcel going out 1st class, then £3.50 (not the VAT, that's just cheeky) would be roughly cost value. Instead, looking at having paid £4.20 for something that cost £1.26 plus the cost of the box, they could have sent out 3 individual parcels for that cost. 

On ebay in the feedback system you can rate the item and postage etc out of 5 stars so you can see how good a seller is across their areas. 

5 Star minis and service guys, but 2 stars on the postage.
