Purgatory's Siren - A Closer Look

For the final A Closer Look for a little while, I had quite a choice to make. In one hand I had the new Toughest Girls in the Galaxy Freebies from Raging Heroes' second Kickstarter. In the other I had Siren from Purgatory. There are probably dozens of blogs and videos about the former already, so I'm going with Siren (whom I like more anyway ;) )

Siren is the Host (Leader) of the Hjanford faction, which we haven't seen much of yet. She's also the first full Angel to wing her way out from Purgatory, with both St Peter and Erishkigal being classed as Fallen Angels. She's a multi part resin model sculpted by Fancagne Didier and cast by GRX.

As per other Purgatory releases, she arrives in a named box complete with art card, additional game card, sticker, base (40mm) and a bag of resin which breaks down to two wings, two sprues and a base insert.

The base insert, as with Hannibal and Bobby B is a little too big for the base - a quick go round the outside with a file shaved off the required couple of mm to create a nice fit. The insert itself appears to be some from of scorched earth with a pentagram inprint, possibly the result of her "superhero landing" pose.

There is quite a lot of flash on the sprue pieces but the detail of the sculpt is there for everyone to see, such as on her boot.

Siren is the first Purgatory piece to have an optional extra - in this case, you can turn her bikini into a corset by adding the rest of the material, which is patterend in the same fashion as her gauntlets and boots. The spear comes in two parts - the main body and the head, allowing for you to switch out the resin spear for a metal pin if you wished for something a little less wobbly, though there is barely any curve to the one I received.

It's tough for me to pick a highlight of the piece, but I think it has to go to the wings - they're just so pretty! They're also completely different to both St Peter and Erishkigal, which in a world of angels and demons will be tough to keep going.

If you fancy yourself a Siren, get over to Purgatory's Facebook Store and pick her up - she's £13 plus postage.
