Last week I shared my Deathwatch Blackstar, something that to me was more of a battle of attrition than actual fun. To counter this, I built and painted one of the models I picked up at Vapnartak a couple of weeks ago - the Albionnican Ogre Trooper from Warploque Miniatures.

All hobbyists have one. No, not the place you hide stuff you don't want found by parents/children/significant other. That place that you put the WIP projects that you aren't quite feeling, things that you try something new on and it doesn't quite work out how you intended so don't go any further and those projects you put aside when "ooh shiny" syndrome strikes and a new toy appears on the table.

A little while back, I started up my second randomly generated project - Halfling Spearmen from Warploque Miniatures that I picked up way back in their first Kickstarter. I had intended to do various progress blogs about them, like Part 1, available here, but in the month since posting that update, I've been distracted by painting up Batman and a cop and unboxing Fallen Frontiers and a Pin Up cat lady. So instead of a Part 2, I have 4 finished Halfling Spearmen!

Welcome to Part 2 of Brambleten Paints ArcWorlde's Father Griffmas. Today we shall see exactly what happens when I lose mojo and direction.

At the end of Part One, Griffmas had been started, with his flesh mostly done and his hair mid way through.

Since then though, I've lost my focus on painting and haven't really fancied it. Over the last couple of evenings, knowing my deadlines are looming closer (this guy is due before 31st December for the 'Eavier Metal comp) I've sat down with the intention of just picking up the brush and doing something. 

Brambleten Paints... ArcWorlde's Father Griffmas - Part 1

Welcome to the first article in my "Brambleten Paints..." Series. The aim of this series, much like Shamikebab's "On The Desk" is to go through the entire process of painting a miniature, broken down into stages. I usually stick to just showing finished content on the blog, but I also want to offer up more paint related content to you guys instead of most of my articles being unboxings of one sort or another (my wallet is relieved to hear this).

So, what better place to start than with a miniature I picked out to paint for the 'Eavier Metal Christmas Painting Comp. The restriction put in place on choosing what to paint was that it must be somewhat related to Christmas, Winter or New Year.

My first thought was to choose The Perfect Present from Kabuki, but I'm also painting a mini for the Another World contest which finishes at the end of November, so didn't want to dive into a scale I hadn't painted before while trying to paint other things as well.

That left my only other Christmas related piece - ArcWorlde's Father Griffmas, from Warploque Miniatures.

The Collection - A Tale of Resin, Metal and "Ooh, Shiny"

I've gained a reputation in some forums for having what some call "an addiction". I just like to think of it as I collect miniatures. I was recently challenged to take pictures of everything I've acquired. To narrow this down, I've gone just for the pictures of things that are either Work In Progress, Built or Still Boxed - Nothing finished at all.

Project Decision Time - Help Me Choose What Comes Next

I'm getting towards the end of my current miniature and I'm trying to work out what project to sink my teeth in to next.

Over the last month I've been attending a new gaming club that started up in town, so I want to try and return my focus to painting for gaming rather than painting for painting. The club is only small at the moment, and it's an even split of miniatures and Magic, so what I want to do is get some small warbands/armies built and painted for a few systems to be able to run demo games and get people into things if they aren't already, or to be able to pick up games with others who already run one of these systems.
