Deathwatch Blackstar - Showcase and a dislike of painting vehicles

I detest painting vehicles. I don't paint them often, which may be part of the problem, but there is something about their demand for smoothly painted plates and crisp edges, not to mention the large areas of metal work requiring attention that just doesn't click with me. When I built my Deathwatch Blackstars last year I thought that as they looked cool and were fairly simple builds that I might enjoy painting them. I was wrong.

A Blackstar, barely contained by my photo box.

90 Minute Challenge - Imperial Guardsman and Prisoner 01

Well, this is an unexpectedly productive start to the year! I took up the 90 Minute Challenge on Monday to paint up Prisoner 01 from the Batman Miniature Game. Not being happy with the final result, I had another crack at the challenge on Tuesday, finishing my first proper Imperial Guardsman in my new army scheme.

Dusk Raiders Space Marine Chaplain

It's taken me over a year to get him from built and a base made to getting him varnished but finally my Dusk Raiders Chaplain from the Betrayal at Calth box set is finished.

Blood Angels: Step by Step

This week I take you through some of the stages I went through to producing my unit entry at Golden Demon 2016..

Building the Deathwatch Corvus Blackstar - Which Options?

As I prepare for the arrival of my Conan Kickstarter pledge, I've started to clear out a little cupboard space for the boxes, which are pretty hefty and apparently weigh around 7KG between the two boxes. So, the first box out was the box on top - the recent Corvus Blackstar flier from Games Workshop.

Blood Angels Special Edition 2016 Marine

Carrying on the Blood Angels theme, I finally got round to painting the 2016 Imperial Space Marine. It's been sat on my shelf, undercoated in red for ages. After a brisk dust off I set to work. This isn't any sort of challenge, that is reserved for the next Blood Angel model I paint.

Phoenix Guard Part 5: On the brink..

Well my plan here was to finish this guy in time for Golden Demon, this weekend, let's see how much is left to do!

Blood Angels Contemptor Dreadnought

My favourite Space Marine Chapter of all time, the Blood Angels, have been under the brush once again this week. I am working on a Horus Heresy army at present for a large battle in October. While waiting for the shoulder pads and weapons from Forge World, I decided to paint the Contemptor Dreadnought from Betrayal at Calth to pass the time.

It's all just Work, Work, Work (in Progress)

I currently have three projects on the go, and I'd like to share some of my progress. I have taken a back seat to the Stage by Stage Guides this week and concentrated on blocking in base colours on a selection of models. All of the Stage-by-Stage guides I have published so far have been used in some capacity on the ongoing projects I have at present.

Deathwatch: Overkill Unboxing

As many of you will know, the new boxed game from Games Workshop was released on Saturday - Deathwatch Overkill!

In this post, I'll unbox the brute :)

Project Generation System - Project 1

At the start of the year, I laid out plans on a new project generation system that would come into use for me when I had finished my current projects. Well, with St Peter and The Artist done, it's time to get started.

The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth - An Unboxing

As some of you may know, last weekend Games Workshop released a little box called Betrayal at Calth. A small percentage of people, got excited as it was a new board game from Games Workshop. Most of everyone else got excited because it's the first time we've traveled 10k years into the future-past that is Warhammer 30k in plastic.

Assassinorum: Execution Force - Unboxing & Reviewing GW's New Board Game

Games Workshop recently released a new board game - Assassinorum: Execution Force. It's similar to Space Hulk in style - miniatures on a board rather than a straight up board game and is a "While Stocks Last" item that costs £75 direct. The main draw for most people will be the four new Imperial Assassins, but you also get a Chaos Terminator Lord sprue to allow you to build Trask, The Chaos Sorcerer who is the "Big Bad" if you will, and also 15 snap fit chaos cultists plucked from the Dark Vengeance box set.
