Inspired by Merkeysa last week, in his post about stepping back from painting. I've also taken a step back, though in my case I didn't completely let go of the paint brush..
I've been thinking about doing a bit more painting on 2D for a while, listening to the Saavy Painter Podcast this week whilst commuting finally inspired me to have a go.
The first picture here was done with oils and inspired by Bob Ross's videos.
Be Happy! |
I enjoyed the process very much, though the cat walking on it didn't help! The cleanup was a right pain, who'd use oil paints right?!
The second was inspired by some piece of artwork I saw on a wall during a meeting I should have been paying more attention to! After the trials and mess of the oils I decided to use acrylics for this one and again enjoyed it very much!
Abstract Boat! I even based this one! |
This might be something I do a bit more of in the future, I really enjoyed the process of doing them even if they're not all that great, it was very relaxing!
I have taken a leaf out of Bob Ross' book too in my blogs, and I've got a Bob Ross starter set sat in my Amazon basket (£68 for the master starter set, RRP £100) and I found some decent priced, double primed stretched canvases in The Range at the weekend, so I may have a go at this style of painting in the near future.
