A Black Heart for a Good Cause - Blackheart from Guild Ball

I've mentioned it a couple of times but for the past 6 weeks or so, I've been painting up the limited edition Blackheart from Guild Ball for the Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher fundraiser - Little Heroes for Little Heroes.

It's taken a while, but the Captain of The Union is finally done.

Unwrapping Kabuki's The Perfect Present

With Christmas approaching at a rapid rate (for anyone not aware, that's 8 days after The Force Awakens arrives in UK cinemas) so I thought it was about time I unboxed Kabuki's The Perfect Present.

Cataloging the Collection

This time last month, I detailed my collection of miniatures, which has since been added to. I know most of what I've got in my collection but I thought it would be useful to have a system to identify my painting progress with them.

With that in mind, I've started building a spreadsheet.

Unboxing JoeK's Jason

I'm a big fan of JoeK's Odyssey line (well, actually I'm a fan of most things Brindie) so I jumped at the chance to pick up a Master Cast of the next mini up for release - Jason - when they were offered up at the end of August.

The awesome looking Odyssey range.

Unboxing the Another World Indiegogo Miniatures

I mentioned in my post about the Another World painting contest that I'd picked up miniatures from their Indiegogo campaign, so here they are!

Pipettes - Pennies for Painting Precision

Most of the time, I'm a person that gets given advice, tries it out then I'll go back to my old ways. Occasionally, a really good bit will stick with me and it's one of those things that I'll share now.

When mixing your paint, how do you get it to the right consistency for the task at hand? How do you know exactly what the right mixture is? For a long time, for me the answers to those two questions were "mix in water with a brush" and "not a clue, I'll tell you when I see it".

Over the last few sessions, I've been giving something new a go. Well not new, but new to me. I've been using a pipette :)

Another World Painting Contest

Another World recently announced that they are holding a painting competition, which closes on 30th November. All of the details can be found in this handy poster...

Tweaking the Tabs

As you may have noticed over the last few days, we've been having a play with the tabs at the top of the blog.

When we started up, we thought we had things set out as we wanted them but now we're coming close to 200 articles, it was getting a little tricky to find the right piece occasionally if we didn't have the right labels on them.

With that in mind, we've added a tab for Unboxings and Reviews, along with a tab for our Finished Miniatures

We've got another couple of ideas in the works but nothing else is going to be added immediately.

Brambleten's Hasslefree Binge

Since the Wamp Workshop and enjoying painting Boudi, I've been thinking about making a Hasslefree order to pick up a few more minis to have a practice with. So, when the newsletter came around saying that there was going to be goody bags on offer, I binged.

Below are photos of every model in that binge.

Death by Purgatory - Single Figure Category Winner

As some of you may know, the guys at Purgatory ran a competition to celebrate the release of their first miniature, Death. After picking up one initially then being given one at the Wamp Workshop, I thought it would be a bit silly not to enter. I managed to get her in a couple of days before the deadline (30th September) for my second comp entry of the year (after the Arkham City Limits contest in March) and I found out yesterday that she won her category!

Scale 75 October Releases

Scale 75 have announced their new releases for October and they consist of two Smog Raiders, two lovely 35mm ladies and a 75mm Knight, all of which can now be ordered from the Scale 75 website.

Paradise Lost - The Fallen Angel from Broken Toad

A relative newcomer to the game, Broken Toad are fast becoming known for their awesome busts. Both their Tooth Fairy and Wicken King are fantasically creepy and have rightly been getting a lot of praise.

They have recently released their new bust Paradise Lost for pre-order, and as you can see, she certainly matches up in the quality stakes.

Unboxing Kabuki's Honey Valentine (NSFW)

I've felt for quite a while that painting flesh tones are one of my painting weaknesses. With that in mind, I picked up a couple of Kabuki's Big Sisters range at the same time as the Bonny Anne bust. The first Big sister is Honey Valentine, and as suggested by the NSFW tag in the title, there is plenty of flesh on show.

Steampunk Cowgirl and Nemesis - Double Ax Faction Unboxing

Today for you we have an unboxing of two of Ax Faction's newest releases - Nemesis and The Steampunk Cowgirl. Both are 32mm scale and made from resin.

The Collection - A Tale of Resin, Metal and "Ooh, Shiny"

I've gained a reputation in some forums for having what some call "an addiction". I just like to think of it as I collect miniatures. I was recently challenged to take pictures of everything I've acquired. To narrow this down, I've gone just for the pictures of things that are either Work In Progress, Built or Still Boxed - Nothing finished at all.

The Wamp Workshop - A Great Experience

Over the August Bank Holiday, I was able to go to the Wamp Workshop, hosted at 4TK Gaming in Colchester. The Workshop was a 2 day event organised as part of my Wamp Paint Brush Kickstarter pledge.

The first day was run by Scott Hockley, AKA Iacton or The Black Hand and was focused on his techniques for working on flesh and faces, while day two was run by John Keys, AKA Megazord Man and looked at his blending from light to dark across areas of a mini.

Brambleten's Tour Of Gotham - Part 9: Another Cop on the Payroll - Knight Models Gotham Police Officer

With the West Coast Gamers Batman tournament getting closer every day, I've been attempting to make a dent in the gang I'd like to take if I attend. With the GCPD Detective finished at the end of July, I got another member of Gotham's finest finished in time for my OMAM (One Miniature A Month) deadline at the end of August.

RoboCop 3.

It's a classic, but it all has to come to an end and here it is.

Unboxing Lilith from Nocturna Models

Two weeks ago I unboxed the Elf Prince from Michael Kontraros and said was one of the most beautiful miniatures I own. I think this one gives him a run for his money.

Unboxing Kabuki's Bonny Anne Bust (NSFW)

Back in March, Kabuki released previews of their 1/8 Scale Bonny Anne bust. I liked the look of her, so asked Brett at the Wamp Store to grab me one when shipping my Kickstarter order. And so, here she is!

As the title says, beyond this point could be considered NSFW. Mainly because that vest top you can see on the box art? That's an optional piece.

Basius 2 - The Milliput Experiments.

Recently, I picked up a couple of Basius 2 pads from the Wargames Bakery Kickstarter for them and posted about my first attempts at using green stuff with them. I got a couple of comments suggesting I try Milliput with them, so that's exactly what I've done!

Unboxing The Elf Dragon Prince from Michael Kontraros

There are some things in life that you have to just stop and admire. These can range from a great view to a cracking goal. I firmly believe that this miniature belongs in this category.

This guy is the Elf Dragon Prince from Michael Kontraros Collectibles. He's a beautifully crafted 90mm resin model, complete with scenic base. Of course, he has a price that reflects how awesome he is.

Free Forge World Shipping and Exclusive Space Marine Legion Centurion

To celebrate their new website going live, Forge World are offering free standard shipping on orders over £100 and also have an exclusive miniature to mark the occasion - a Space Marine Legion Centurion. Both the free shipping and Marine are available until 30th September so if you've ever fancied dipping in to Forge World, now would be a pretty good time to do it.

Q and A with Scott Hockley

Hi I'm Scott from Colchester, UK. 41, 6ft tall, dad bod, GSOH etc, married with a 3 year old son. A painter and modeller who runs a window company in my spare time... Lol.

Death from Purgatory - Up for Pre-Order

Our friends over at Purgatory have put their first ever miniature up for Pre-Order!

Death is a 32mm scale high quality resin model and the first representation of Eve to hit production.
