We've got a very special Closer Look today, and it's one I'm rather excited about - the new Ant Queen miniature from Ax Faction. Ax Faction as a store closed it's doors last year, but Paul is still keeping things ticking over on the back burner as a hobby, which leads us to this little beauty.
This little lady is actually a 32mm scale three miniature resin set, with all profits from the sales of them going to World Animal Protection, a charity that does exactly that - protects animals from various cruelty they might suffer in the world. She cost £30 plus shipping and is selling like hot cakes - if you're after one at the end of this look at her, head over to the Ax Faction Facebook page and give Paul a yell.
She arrives in a combo of three zip lock backs, with the smaller two inside the larger one, separating the three miniatures - two ants and the Queen herself.
First up, the Queen. I'm not sure if she's as small as the ants or if they've been hit with Ant Man's blue discs and are as large as her. She comes in 3 pieces - her main body, crossed forearms and her scarf/belt/long strip of cloth that hangs off her back.
She doesn't come with a base as she actually stands on top of one of her two ants.
As the ants are so similar, I've just taken pictures of one of them. Each ant comes with a base topper for a 30mm lipped base, but does not come with a base to put the topper in.
Even though I've been lax about assembling them, I do actually have all of Ax Faction's retail releases tucked safely away and she's a great addition to the family, fully inkeeping with the signature Ax Faction lady style - a little bit of sass with a clear design, not just a pin up for the sake of being a pin up. Pin up's cosplaying, if you would (that's my take and I'm sticking to it!).
